About the event
From the invitation: We are amidst a time of new relational possibilities for ecopoesis: Robin Wall Kimmerer and adrianne maree brown are inspiring regard for the more-than-human world as full of teachers and models for social organization, Western scientists are seeking allyship with Indigenous practitioners of TEK (Traditional Ecological Knowledge), philosophical and popular discourses centering plants are thriving. Meanwhile, destructive structures of relation enforced through settler-colonization and capitalist extraction continue to cause harm and need our intervention.
The proposition...is to gather, and to explore methods of ecopoetic engagement with the more-than-human world...Materials (suggested readings, a provocative questionnaire, some of which may be taken as prompts for creative making) will be provided for each step.
